How do I floss?

Traditional string floss is the most widely available and recognised amongst interdental cleaning products. It can be waxed, flavoured, or ribboned. You may need to try a few different types to see what works for you.

The best way to floss is to use a length of approximately 30cm and wrap it around your forefingers (ensuring one side has more length wrapped around it). This allows you to use your thumbs for your top teeth and forefingers for your bottom teeth, to help guide the floss between each tooth.

The floss should glide down the side of each tooth in a ‘C’ shape and pass just below the gum line, then bring the floss back up and glide it down the side of the contacting tooth. As you move through each of the teeth, you can move the floss along by unwrapping a bit from one index finger and wrapping it on to the index finger of the other hand.
